Albert "Al" Allen Johnson

February 12, 1934 — April 13, 2016

Albert (Al) Allen Johnson, age 82, went home to be with his Lord on April 13, 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by his family and friends at home. Al was born 2/12/1934 to George and DeVerne (Seymour) Johnson in Clinton, Iowa. Al had a great love of music at an early age, especially his guitar and great singing voice. He enjoyed entertaining and played with several home town bands. He graduated from Clinton High School in June, 1952. Al enlisted in the Army on 9/16/1953 where he was a cook and was honorably discharged on 6/3/1954. He reenlisted in the reserves on April 10, 1956 and was Honorably discharged 9/30/1961. After returning from the Army he continued his love of cooking by cooking at the Army Depot in Savanna, Illinois for the officers. In the 1960's Al owned and operated "Hometown Music Shop" in Savanna, Illinois where he taught others to play the guitar. On September 14th 1967 Al married Patricia Heitman in Rock Island Illinois and resided in the quad cities until moving to Sturgeon Bay. This year would have marked their 49th wedding anniversary. Al and Pat moved to Sturgeon Bay, WI in September 1974. Together they have been members of Family Worship Center for many years. In the years of being in Sturgeon Bay, Albert had a variety of jobs involving sales and real estate, including radio station announcer in Davenport IA and Sturgeon Bay WI. His last job before retirement was at the Scandia Retirement Village as a cook.

Al and Pat enjoyed their many trips across the USA and Canada. At times they also brought children and grandchildren with them on their adventures.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Johnson. 2 brothers Jim (Sue) Johnson and David (Jan Hansen Nelson) Johnson. 2 daughters Kathy Johnson and Joanna Weiler. 7 grandchildren Jenny (Mike) Clark, Travis (Tassia) Fortemps, Sarah (Jake) Duginski, Matt Hager and Mary Yang, Chris Hager, Keith Stich and Brooklyn Hamacher. 13 great grandchildren and 1 on the way in August 2016. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, Friends and others touched by Al are invited to Family Worship Center, 1715 Michigan Street Sturgeon Bay, WI at 2 p.m. on April 23, 2016 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat (since we all know that Al was a talker!)
