Barbara A. Burns

July 8, 1974 — December 27, 2024

Barbara A Burns, Age 50, of Hobart, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 27, 2024 after a short battle with brain cancer. Her Husband of over 27 years was by her.

Barb was a voracious reader, she could sit down with a new book and 90 minutes later she was three quarters done with it. Barb took a great interest in the things she liked. She was an avid golfer, and went as often as she could, staying home and watching movies curled up with her husband and a bowl of popcorn was a perfect evening. Taking walks and going to Door County was the perfect way for her to relax. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, she began shopping a year in advance.

Barb was a very kind and helpful woman who wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved her extended family with all her heart. She was not afraid to speak her mind when she was crossed or was passionate about things.

Barb was born in Cook County, IL, on July 8th, 1974 to Edwin & Jane Szczepaniak. They all moved to Mosinee, WI later where Barb completed high school at Mosinee High. She went on to get an Associated Degree in Computer Programming & Analysis, Interior Design & A Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. She graduated with Honors with Degree.

She married James M Burns, her lab partner, on July 31st 1998. They realized that fate had taken a hand when sitting in the library work room from noon to 1am just talking instead of working their assigned project. It was a whirlwind after that. After being married Barb & James enjoyed golf and traveling in the continental US.

Barb worked for Humana, Inc for almost 20 years in several different departments. Every time she changed departments it took her no time to pick up the job details and make it look easy. She was passionate about her work, no matter what it was, for she enjoyed working.

She is preceded in passing by her father Edwin but is survived by a large number of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers and Sisters across the US.

The Family would like to Thank all the wonderful Nurses, Aids and Doctors at Saint Vincents Hospital, Radiation / Oncology Departments who cared for her during her two months of cancer treatments. Thank you so much.

Barb will be having a small family gathering in the near future to celebrate her life.
