Barbara left many poems behind for her children and family including this one:

When I Die

A time to live, a time to die

Hush my children now don’t you cry

Sooner or later we all must go

My life’s complete as I watched you grow

Put flowers at my head and some at my feet

Send balloons to the heavens

Now smile and don’t weep

And when it’s time for you to go

I’ll be at the gates this I know

And once again my life complete

As my babies sit at my feet

-To my children
