Bruce "Gus" Spangler passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 (his 63rd birthday). He was born in Green Bay on March 3, 1956 to the late Joseph & Marlene (DeMuyser) Spangler. He was a graduate of Green Bay West class of 1974. He held several diverse jobs ranging from a fabricator at Valley Plating & Fabricating to repairing scooters near UW-Madison, and finally as a security guard/armored car driver. He also studied Engineering at UWGB & UW-Madison as a non-traditional student while in his 30's. While he was growing up (well he never really grew up) he swam & traveled with the YMCA swim team. Interests & hobbies over the years included licensed private pilot, scuba diving, motorcycles, street rods, Rhythm & Booms fireworks in Madison and shooting guns (Peeps were a favorite target). He lived in Madison for the last 30 years where he had many good times on State Street hanging out at Steep & Brew back in the day or on a bench while his close friend Catfish Stephenson played guitar. For the last several years he lived with his daughter Courtney and 9 year old grandson Brayden. Brayden was his pride & joy and Bruce tried to spend as much time as possible with him.
Bruce is survived by his daughter Courtney (fiancée Brad Skinkis) Spangler & grandson Brayden, brothers and sister-in-laws Cindy Spangler, David (Cindy - the other Cindy) Spangler & Paul (Jo Ann) Spangler; nieces & nephews Jamie (Chris) Spina, Buddy (Amanda) Spangler, Samantha Spangler, Brian (Danielle) Spangler, Matthew (special friend Kristi) Spangler and Brett Spangler; great niece Adaline Spangler.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother Dale.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday March 16th from 11am-4pm at the Town of Kewaskum Community Center, 9019 Kettle Moraine Dr, Kewaskum, WI 53040.
