Bud (Shubert A.) Everts, age 85 of Hortonville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3. He was born in Appleton on April 22, 1933 to Clarence and Mildred (Schuh) Everts. After graduating from Hortonville High School in 1949, he attended Appleton Vocational School where he learned to be a printer.
Bud served his country as a proud Marine, and became a member of American Legion Post 55 in Hortonville where he served as an Honor Guard for more than 65 years.
He married Marilyn Schwebs of Hortonville, on June 23, 1952, while in the service in California. Upon return to Appleton, he took employment with Appleton Post Crescent where he worked for 43 years. Spare time was spent coaching Little League and American Legion Baseball; officiating WIAA sports for 50 plus years; and more than 10 years as a volunteer official for Special Olympics.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn; his children Mark (Sandy), Kerry, Becky (Bruce Meyers), Kyle and Cory (Amanda); grandchildren Kendra, Colton, Carly and Hallie Everts; sister, Carol (Ray Meshnick); and brothers- and sisters-in law, Maxine and Wally Hoewisch, Dave and Judy Schwebs. He was preceded in death by his parents and father- and mother-in-law, King and Alice Schwebs.
Memorial service Thursday, July 7 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville. Visitation 9-11 am; Service 11 am. Father Jim Feely officiating.
