Cathleen A. (Dashnier) Gilling, 94 died suddenly Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Forest Glen Assisted Living in Seymour, WI. She was born March 18, 1922 in Duck Creek, WI to the late Moses and Josephine (Bredael) Dashnier. She graduated from Green Bay West High School. She and Andrew Gilling married in 1941 and they were life long residents in the Green Bay area. Andrew passed away in 1996. Cathleen was an avid gardener and her home reflected her many talents as well as pride in her children’s accomplishments. The love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Harold) DeBruin, Thomas Gilling (Michael VanHorn), Robert (Margaret DeRoche) Gilling, Christopher (DeeAnne Swienton) Gilling; her grandchildren, Laurie Gosha, Geoff Gerard, Catherine DeGreef (Todd) Kilby, Mary (Alex) Kaempen and Michael Gilling; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Gosha, Alex and Elizabeth Kilby.
Cathleen was preceded in death by her husband and parents, daughter Susan DeGreef, sons-in-law Paul DeGreef and Lawrence Gosha; and her siblings: sisters Elizabeth Nick, Sally Fischer, Viola Krieser, Margaret Laubenstein, Ione LeMay, Carmella Westein, and brothers Phillip Dashnier, Gilbert Dashnier and Clifford Dashnier, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A private memorial is planned for the family.
The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff at Forest Glen Assisted Living in Seymour, Home Instead and her neighbors, Wade and Rachel Ripley, who assisted her at home.
