Cheryl Ann Lubinski, age 62, passed away peacefully Thursday May 9th in Green Bay, WI. Better known as Cheri or Cherbear, she was born July 16th, 1956 in Green Bay to Ralph and Janice Lubinski. She attended Preble High School prior to studying at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, and graduated from the Bellin College of Nursing in 1980. She had an incredible work ethic and sense of compassion, and went on to work as an RN in pediatrics at St Vincent Hospital before starting a family. She had two children, James and Jenna, whom her life revolved around. Nursing remained her greatest passion in life and she worked as an RN and psych aide for various clinics and hospitals through the years.
Cheri was known for her sweet nature, never missing an opportunity to compliment a stranger or help someone in need. Some of her best days were spent up north with her family taking long scenic drives, walking through the woods, and sitting by the water reading a good book. She was a Godly woman who was active in her church and cared deeply for her friends. Along with her kind heart, Cheri had a sassy and fun loving spirit. She was always up for lots of laughs, good food, good music, and a glass of red wine.
Her greatest pride and joy in life was her children, and she never failed to put their needs first. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them. You could find her shopping with her daughter every chance she could get. She lovingly treated her children’s friends as her own, and her home was regularly filled with kids.
In her later years she greatly enjoyed working in retail at jewelry counters, where she was able to share her love of fashion with a multitude of people. She had a famously strong will and determination, and never let her illness hold her back from going to work, dressing up, and making time for others.
Cheri was preceded in death by her father, Ralph, and her sister in law, Debra. She is survived by her son James Johnstone and her daughter Jenna Johnstone; her mother Janice Lubinski, her siblings Mark Lubinski, Gary (Jan) Lubinski, Paul Lubinski and his friend Lori, Jayne Lubinski and her friend Kim. She also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Cheri is to be held on Monday, June 3rd at Graceway Baptist Church on 1750 Dousman St, Green Bay. Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm with services beginning at 5:30 pm. Food and refreshments will follow. Guests are welcome to come share memories.
In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in Cheri’s name to the New Community Shelter Inc.
The family would like to extend a loving thank you to Unity Hospice for everything they have done.
