Cory Paul Smits

Cory Paul Smits, age 38, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay.
On January 11, 1982 , his mother, Linda G. (Reed) Smits, gave birth to a legend. Cory spent his trying childhood being raised in Green Bay, WI by his mother Linda and his father Randall.
He graduated from West High School in 2000, and chose to continue his education not only at the School of Hard Knocks, but also through associate degrees obtained from NWTC in areas which brought him joy. However, he was never able to pursue an education where his true passion lied due to health constraints.
Cory had an appetite for life and loved those close to him on a level that was stronger than most, even if his words did not always match what he felt inside. He found hilarity and elation with those whom he chose to spend his time. He found his passion for body piercing later in his life, and dove headfirst into all the knowledge and experience he could obtain in the field. While his bodily restrictions may have been many, and ultimately the thing he most loathed in life, his spirit had no limits.
Cory enjoyed inappropriate satire and his kilts. Friends remember his love of the “freedom” his kilt collection offered him, and the smirk that came with any comment that was made about them.
Cory’s internet legacy will be appreciated by many for years to come. It will bring a smile and a tear to the eye of all who loved him, and for all who didn’t know him, hopefully it will make them think twice about judging a book by it’s cover.
Left to cherish Cory’s memory are his mother and father, Linda and Randall Smits; his siblings, Erin Kamps (Troy Kamps), Scarlett Dailey (Brian Dailey), and Randall Smits; his many nieces and nephews, Ben Gegare (Katie Gegare), Sebastian Smits, Katelyn Sutrick, Trinity Theno, Ella Theno, Jack Kamps and Abagail Bose; his beloved cousin and best friend Casey Paral (Elizabeth Paral) and a vast and loving group of friends, family and acquaintances.
Cory was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arbon and Lilyan Reed; paternal grandparents Randall and June Smits, and close friends that passed too soon.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm on Tuesday, November 24,2020 at Malcore Funeral Home (West). A time for sharing memories and stories about Cory will be held from 2:30pm until 3:00pm. Please observe all Covid-19 safety practices.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cory’s memorial fund which will be donated to the Al D. Scholarship fund. This covers costs associated with attending the Association of Professional Piercers Conference for eligible applicants.
