Daniel S. Reitz

Daniel "Dan" Sylvester Reitz, age 62, was born October 17th, 1961, and passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of August 2nd, 2024, after a brief but intense battle with cancer.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary; his brother, Mike; and sisters, Sandy, Donna and Pat.

Dan is survived by his son, David (Jennifer) and his grandson, Damian; his son Aaron; and his daughter, Amara (Louis) and grandchildren, Liam, Lily, and Patrick. He is further survived by his brother, Tom: sister, Bev; and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to take the time to expressly thank the many hospice care workers, nurses and doctors at Theda care, Theda care Hospice and Cherry Meadows who did their best to make him comfortable, treated him with dignity, and showed up to help him whenever he needed them. Their tireless dedication was a blessing for him and for us.

Dan was human and flawed like all of us. He fought many demons in life, many times on his own. But we consider ourselves so fortunate to have known him, and to have had the privilege to be with him to the end. My husband, David and I, know our life was forever changed for the better by him being in it, and we will forever be changed by his loss. He gave my husband his last name by adoption, and was the Grandpa that introduced our son to his love of chocolate. We are so grateful for the shared memories that Dan left us with. We are further comforted knowing Dan is now at peace.

Per Dan's last wishes, there will be no viewing or formal memorial service. Instead he hopes there might be a relaxed gathering of family and friends at a future date where they may share their stories and celebrate his life.
