Daniel Anthony Wescott, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born on March 12, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI to Clare and Philip Wescott. Dan graduated from West High School in 1952, then joined the navy and served in the Korean War. After the war, Dan attended the University of Green Bay and eventually began his 42 year career at National Can Corporation where he became Production Control Manager.
He enjoyed sports, traveling, working out, and spending time with his grandson, Carter, especially at his cabin on Shay Lake. Dan looked forward to his Green Bay Packer trips with "the boys" always in search of warm destinations with "all you can eat" buffets. Over the years, Dan spent many hours volunteering at ASPIRO working with people with disabilities. He was a part of their Tuesday bowling groups and assisted in the yearly Brewer game trips. In 2003 he was awarded the ASPIRO Volunteer of the Year award for his continued dedication. As a guardian and an advocate for Kenny and Dennis, they were often seen in the community taking in a movie after enjoying a hearty dinner. He also volunteered his services at Bay Port High school track and field.
Dan is survived by his five children, John Wescott, Mark Wescott and his wife Shannon Wescott, Matt Wescott, Susan Wescott and her partner Karen Ritchie, Ann Wescott and her husband Joe Klimczak; only grandson, Carter; brother Mike, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Wescott.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held at a later date this summer.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the warm and caring staff at Marla Vista Assisted Living, Heartland Hospice, and Simply Cremation.
