David D. Melotte, 71, Green Bay, lost his courageous three-year battle with cancer on August 6, 2015. Born on February 21, 1944, he is the son of the late Donald Sr. and Noreen (Lemerond) Melotte of Seymour.
Dave was proud of his military service in the US Navy on the Independence and the USS Forrestal from 1961-1965. He later worked as a machinist at Paper Converting Machine Company for 32 years before retiring in 2004. Dave was a member of the Loyal Order Of the Moose Lodge 801 since 1978. He married the love of his life, Diane in 1996.
Dave's passion was his cabin, where together he and Diane enjoyed fishing, picking berries, riding the four-wheeler, and making maple syrup. He loved spending vacations and any free time he had up there. Dave also loved gardening and cracking hickory nuts. If he was at home, you could usually find him tinkering with something in the garage. Dave always had a "project" he was working on for someone. He will be remembered for his bigger than life personality. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will miss his humor and quick wit. Dave was always the life of the party.
Survivors include his wife Diane; children Keith Melotte, Tina Melotte, Tom Melotte (Sarah), all of Green Bay, and Vicki (Dan) Reynard of Seymour; step-children, Tammy (Tony) Kaiser, Jenny (Jamie) Patasius, both of West Bend, and Sally Cuomo (Justin) of Slinger; 15 grandchildren; one great grandson, Arthur; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; especially his best friend, Jim Erickson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters-in-law, Jan, Joan and Joyce Melotte.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Leenstra, Dr. David Groteluschen, and all of the staff at Green Bay Oncology and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
A special thank you to Diane's daughter, Tammy, for the care you have given our Dad in these final days. We rested a little bit easier knowing he was in your hands.
His children would like to thank Diane for giving their Dad the best 20 years of his life. We have not seen him loved by someone or love someone the way he loved you. For that we are very grateful.
In keeping with Dave's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Simply Cremation is assisting the family, 431-0100.
