Dean Gillespie

February 13, 1946 — December 18, 2016

Dean Gillespie of Rapid River, MI passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the age of 70.

Born on February 13, 1946, Dean was the second son born to Leda (DeMars) and Eugene "Mac" Gillespie. He was a 1964 graduate of Escanaba Area Senior High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He furthered his education at Bay De Noc Community College and became employed at Mead Paper until his retirement in 2008.

In 1976, Dean married Gail (Brunette) Goloback and became an instant father to her daughter, Cindy. They later became parents to a son, Dion, and then another daughter, Shannon.
Dean had a wonderful group of friends which he cherished deeply. Together, they enjoyed Dean's hobbies which included classic Corvettes, Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting (both locally and out West) and trying his luck at the casino. He loved his family and friends and found his greatest joy amongst them.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his children: Cindy (DJ) Mancheski, Dion (Chelsea) Gillespie, and Shannon (Ryan) Lambert, all of Green Bay Wisconsin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Christina and Corey DeBacker, Cole, Dylan, Luke, and Gavin Gillespie, and Boston, Branson, and Hallory Lambert. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Garry (Carolyn) Gillespie of Brookfield, Wisconsin and their children and grandchildren.
Dean did not wish to be mourned at a funeral but will be honored with a "celebration of life" by his children at a later date. Per his final wishes, his ashes will be spread at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.
