Dean Joseph Greetan
May 31, 1954 — February 7, 2019
Dean Joseph Greetan, age 64, of Lena, WI, died peacefully on Thursday February 7th, 2019 surrounded by his family at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
He was born on May 31st, 1954 in Oconto Falls, WI to John and Christina (Urbanek) Greetan. He attended Oconto Falls High School. On March 12th, 1977 he married Margo Lynn Young at St. Joseph’s Church in Oconto, WI. Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an accomplished coon hunter and trained several UKC Champion coonhounds including “Greetan’s Winding Flo” and “Greetan’s Ozark Kate”. Through his generous nature he touched many lives, and was always quick to help friends, family and sometimes complete strangers. During the Summer and Fall, Dean could often be found roaming the grounds of county fairs, watching local parades, or taking scenic drives through the forests of Northern Wisconsin. He was a caring husband, loving father, devoted grandfather and beloved father-figure to some of his nieces and nephews. The rumbling muffler of Dean’s pick-up truck was a familiar and welcome sound at the homes of everyone that knew him.
He was preceded in death by six brothers Roger, Maynard, Sam, Dale, Gordon, Leroy; and his parents John and Christina (Urbanek) Greetan.
Dean is survived by his wife of 41 years Margo Greetan; son Gregory Greetan, daughter-in-law Tiffany (Brown) Greetan and grandchildren Ephram and Airabella; son Jacob Greetan and special friends Breanna Conard, Remington and Citori; Godchildren Angela Schultz and Marty Jenkins; brothers John Jr., Darryl (Bunny), Gaylin, Lewellyn (Skeeter); sisters Patricia (Patty), Christine (Mutz), Darlene (Polly); a special nephew Mike Greetan; a special cousin Joshua Borkovec; and many nieces and nephews.
Anyone that wants to honor Dean’s memory is invited to wear a flannel shirt to the visitation and funeral service.
Visitation with the urn present will take place from 11AM-1PM Saturday, February 16th 2019 at Holy Trinity Parish in Oconto, WI. A funeral service will be held at 1PM at the church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating.
