Darlene (Dolly) Revord, age 94, passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 29, 2020 at Angel’s Touch Assisted Living in Green Bay, WI. Dolly was born August 7, 1926 to Frank and Marvel (Bovan) Doucette, and was raised as a young child in AuTrain, MI. She later moved with her family to Munising, where she attended Mather High School.
Dolly married Wilfred (Bill) Revord on February 15, 1947, and together they had four children; Jaci, Iris, Sheila and Billy. When Bill passed away suddenly on November 11, 1965 (at age 38), Dolly was tasked with raising four children on her own.
As a young adult, Dolly worked at Munising Wood Products. She later worked for Hayes Drug Store, Woolworth Co, as a cook for a hospital in North Dakota, and Pictured Rocks Boat Cruises Gift Shop for 13 years (her absolute favorite job). Her career ended at 85, working as a receptionist at Fort Howard Senior Apartments in Green Bay, WI.
Music was a huge part of Dolly’s life. She played piano, entertaining family and friends up until a month prior to her passing. For many years, she played saxophone in the dance band “Family Affair“ along with her mother, brother and cousin. In her pre-teen years Dolly tap danced competitively in Michigan and Wisconsin, and later as a young mother, tapped for her children while they ate breakfast.
During her years living in Munising, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lady Foresters, and the Musician’s Union. Dolly was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and rarely missed watching a game. She also enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage and kept mentally sharp by working crossword and word search puzzles. She had a warm heart for all animals, especially dogs and cats, and had a special love of birds.
Dolly dearly loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by son, Bill Revord (Pam), Iron Mountain, MI; daughters, Iris Ninis (Joe), Waukesha, WI, and Sheila Leonard, Phoenix, AZ; and son-in-law, David Feldhusen.
Ten grandchildren: Kim Myers, Rhonda Sitnikau, Holly DeGroot (Adam), Gabrielle Revord, Dani Revord, Lindsay Swindle (David), Jason Rumohr (Nichole), Brock Rumohr (Katie), Toby VanLandschoot (Ann) and Jay VanLandschoot (Christina).
Great-grandchildren: Petra Sitnikau, Hope Swindle, Greyden, Harry, Mason, Charlie, and Madaline Rumohr, Ava, Aubrey, Thomas and Simone VanLandschoot.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Marvel Doucette; husband, Wilfred (Bill) Revord; daughter, Jaci Feldhusen; brother, Duke Doucette; sisters, Carole Monette and Joyce Chartrand; and dearest friend, Marci Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held in Munising on Dolly’s birthday, August 7, 2021, with interment to follow.
Those wishing to honor the memory of Dolly may donate to two causes she cared deeply about: Alger County Animal Shelter or the National Audubon Society.
