Edward Hammett IV (Ned) of Sheboygan passed away on July 7th, 2022. In his final words, “I lived a good life, and raised a good family, and I’m ready”. He was 87 years old. Ned was born to Edward Hammett III and Elizabeth Gilboy Hammett, known as Ted and Beth on September 14, 1934 in Sheboygan, WI. He graduated from Central High School in 1952, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On September 9th, 1961, Ned married Karen Jarlseburg in Janesville, WI. The couple then settled in Milwaukee. Ned worked and retired in the paper and printing industries in Milwaukee and Sheboygan.
Over the years Ned enjoyed camping, fishing and travelling with his wife to Florida because they were avid bird watchers and enjoyed birding destinations. He enjoyed living out his years in the town he grew up in and loved walking and admiring the beauty of Sheboygan. He became popularly known among the restaurateurs and staff along the downtown corridor of Sheboygan where he ate daily. He had a strong commitment to a twelve-step program and spent many years helping others.
Ned is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Karen Jarlesburg Hammett, and his sister Elizabeth Hammett Josephson (Liz). Ned is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Gail Hammett of Flagler Beach, FL., nieces Karen and Mike Kleasner and family, Amy Fleming and her family, cousins, and beloved family friend Cindy Canon.
The family is planning a celebration of life on August 16th, 2022 located lakeside in Sheboygan. Interment is at a family plot at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
