Ellen Danielle Harrison

June 5, 1942 — May 21, 2016

Ellen (Ellie) D. Harrison passed away peacefully on May 21, 2016, succumbing to a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. She was born June 5, 1942 to Daniel and Antoinette Vandehey and grew up in Antigo. After graduating from Antigo H.S., she attended Badger Business College in Green Bay and married John Hetzel of Birnamwood. Ellie remarried in 1985, marrying Bill Harrison of Chicago, her soulmate and love of her life. They had 31 wonderful years together, without ever having had a fight. She spent many years in the jewelry business and managed Galaxy of Sound in the Port Plaza Mall. Her last job was as a receptionist for Johnson Bank, which she loved, since she was such a people-person. Ellie was happiest when in her home, cooking, crocheting, watching her big TV and collecting pictures of her beloved family. She loved opera, Z.Z. Top and robin’s egg blue. She was always quick to help others, was warm and welcoming and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include: her husband Bill, sister Jill Vandehey, brother John Vandehey, daughters Paulette Brooks and Jennifer Van Handel, son Michael Hetzel, step-children Jeff Harrison, Lex Thompson, Josh Harrison and Kalyn Latneau and many beloved grand children, step-grandchildren and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marcia Loynd.
