Ethel (Babe) Townsend

Ethel L. (Babe) Townsend passed away on January 27, 2023, in Crivitz, WI. She was born on September 13, 1928 to Dennis and Nora Lawler Johnson. As the youngest and last surviving of 6 children, Babe lived a full life of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Townsend, and son Richard.
She is survived by her son James R. Townsend (Brenda), Roswell, GA and Michael G. Townsend (Kathy), Oconto, WI and daughter Kathryn Elizabeth Graetz, Oxford, AR, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Babe Townsend was known for her feisty and funny personality. She had family and friends across the United States and never met a stranger. She was always adding new members to her growing list of those who knew and truly loved her. Her high energy and zest for life remained intact right up to her death. Her strong work ethic and generous spirit exemplified who she was in every way. If she learned someone was in need, she was there to assist in anyway she could and often did.

The family will honor her request not to have a formal memorial service. Please remember Babe for who she was and what she stood for and how she enjoyed life, family, and friends, and every minute she had on this earth. She will be missed by many and remembered by those who knew how to joke and laugh every day. God’s speed and restful peace.
