George “Fritz” Hrubesky, 80, made his final journey to heaven surrounded by his loving wife and family September 5th 2018. Fritz was born February 1, 1938 in Green Bay, son of the late George and Agnes (Piaskowski) Hrubesky. He graduated from Premontre High School in 1956 and attended St Norbert’s College for two years. He retired from Robert E. Lee and Associates after 30+ years of dedicated service.
Fritz was always the outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, coach, athlete, teacher and mentor. He began his tenure as an avid Packer fan by sneaking into City Stadium as a young teen and watching the game from the end zone. Everyone knew that “game day” was to be quiet time except for him and you did not dare block his view from the TV or else!
Every encounter with Fritz was a learning experience as he never missed an opportunity to teach you something about life, leaving you with at least one “Fritzism”. He loved all whom he crossed paths with, unconditionally and unapologetically.
Fritz and Barb enjoyed traveling taking them to China, Alaska, the western states and ending their travels with 9 years as snowbirds to Arizona. Along the way, they made many friends that turned into long lasting friendships. Fritz always took the road less traveled.
He was very involved in St Patrick’s in many ways including the Men’s club for over 30 years. He also, along with Barb, volunteered his time to the Brown County Library and Green Bay Botanical Gardens making jokes with anyone who would listen.
He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren, attending as many as their events as possible and also playing Santa for many years bringing much magic to the season. He loved woodworking, tinkering and fixing anything that appeared to be broken.
Life with Fritz was always “Gooder than gum!”
On September 26, 1959, he married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Jansen whom he always referred to as “my sweetheart”. He will always be remembered by his wife Barbara, children Lisa (Bob) Gutknecht, Chuck (Jennie), Tiena (Jeff, deceased) Hussong, Michele Salzsieder, Chris (Sue), He has been blessed with 16 grandchildren, Josh, Emily, Whitney, Jake, Michele, Breanna, Zach, Chelsea, Jessica, Ben, Clay, Tim, Andrew, Maddie, Ben and Spencer and 8 great grandchildren, Kaden, Cadence, Paytan, Brenna, Allie, Noah, Chloe, Abel. He is also survived by brothers, Wally (Barb) and James (Colleen) and sisters Judy and Mary Baeb (Mike) and sisters-in-law Bev, Delores and Judy (Bill) McLaughlin.
He is preceded in death by son-in-law Jeff Hussong and granddaughter, EleniRae, brothers, Tom, John, Donald (Dingo), Paul, David and sister Sue, father-in-law, Andrew and mother-in-law Margaret, brothers-in-law Andrew and Jack and sisters-in-law Mary, Shirley and Gloria.
