George R. Hodgkins, 83, Green Bay, found peace on March 18, 2024 after a six year battle with dementia and recent complications from covid. Born January 18, 1941, in Tamaqua, PA, he is the first born child of the late William "Russell" and Millicent (Klinger) Hodgkins. George moved to Wisconsin in the mid-1970s to follow his career in working in dental labs as a technician. He met Lynda K. (Kaster) VanLanen while they were both employed at Lords Dental Studio and later married on December 31, 1991 in Green Bay. Together they later owned and operated N.E.W.Creations Dental Lab along with two additional partners. After thirteen years they sold the business to one of their partners and retired. In retirement they enjoyed traveling the world and wintering in Lake Havasu City, AZ for 17 years. George was an avid model train collector with a huge layout in the family's basement. He also was a member of the Titletown Treasure Seekers. George was also a collector of coins, guns and stamps.
George is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynda; three sons, David Hodgkins, Mark (Natalie) Hodgkins and John Hodgkins; step-children, Eric (Elisha) VanLanen, April (Dan) Spielbauer and Andrew VanLanen; grandchildren, Brianna, Alisha, Caitlyn, Katrina, Olivia, Will, Dylan, Luc, Logan, Tori, Bret, Jake and Nehemiah; five great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Kepping; nieces and nephew, Heather (Mark) Hannon, Sheryl (Rob) Kepping, J.J. (Alaina) Hannon; Lynda's siblings, Dennis (Sue) Kaster, Janice Tucker, Susan (Jerry) Jensen, Chris (Tim) Larsen, Rodney (Cindy) Kaster; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Lowndes; brother-in-law, Donald Kepping; mother and father-in-law, Frances and Lenard Guelette; and Lynda's natural father, Howard Kaster.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Rite Place,1580 Bellevue Street, Green Bay, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 12:00-3:00PM.
George's family extends a special thank you to staffs of Unity Hospice, Edenbrook, Curative Connections, Brown County ADRC and fourth floor staff of Bellin Hospital.
