Gerald "Jerry" Burns, 75, Green Bay, passed away on March 24, 2017 following a prolonged illness. Born on April 9, 1941 in Menomonie, WI, he is the son of the late Morris and Cecelia Burns. On April 18, 1960 Jerry was united in marriage to Nancy J. Rhead. He began his early career in banking in Menomonie, Genoa City and Kiel, Wisconsin before taking a position with the Waldo State Bank in 1968 as Executive Vice President. Jerry was employed at WSB for 31 years until his retirement in 1999. He had many customers that he so enjoyed serving throughout the years, it was a source of great pride for him. Jerry had many hobbies and interests: He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed hunting and fishing, cars, snowmobiling, and getting together with friends and family. Jerry spent most of his retirement in the Green Bay and Oconto areas where he pursued some of these interests.
Jerry is survived by his ex wife, Nancy; five children, Jeff (Heike) of Cataldo Idaho, Mark (special friend Lori) of Town of Sheboygan, Jon (Kelli) of Oostburg, and Michael (Trish) of Plymouth, and Elizabeth Schaap of Middleton, Wisconsin. Jerry is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Becky Rechlitz, Sheila Meyers, Alisha Burns, Ryan Burns, Marissa, Claire and Preston Burns, Jake and Ellie Schaap, Libby and Leah Burns; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joanne, Robert and Mary.
At Jerry’s request a private family service will be held at a later date in Menomonie, Wisconsin following cremation. Simply Cremation in Green Bay assisted the family with cremation services, (920) 431-0100.
