Gerald “Jerry” Jerome Hawkinson, 78, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018, with his wife of 55 years and eldest daughter by his side at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay.
He was born September 20, 1939 to the late Clifford and Viola (Ostby) Hawkinson of Darlngton, WI. On June 29th he married the love of his life, Nellie Mae (Brown) Hawkinson in Monroe, WI. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
They loved spending time with the family and almost every Saturday would have breakfast at Perkins on Military always sharing a meal. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and never forgot a birthday. Everyone who knew him always looked forward to his Christmas cutout cookies and homemade caramels. “Hawk” worked for Combined Insurance Co for many years and retired as Office Manager of Shefchik’s Energy Service, Inc. serving over 20 years.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Nellie (Brown) Hawkinson; sisters: Joanne Hawkinson (Darlington, WI), Carol Anderson (Batavia, IL) and his brother Stanley (Caroline) Hawkinson (Brooklyn, WI); Daughters: Ginger Hawkinson, Jackie Martinez, Crystal (Dennis) Boe; Grandchildren: Tabitha (Richard) Heslip, Daniel (Leah Juline) Heslip, Nicholas (Jessie Pennings) Larscheid, Tyler (Bethany) Heslip, Taylor (Mike Kind) Larscheid, Samuel (Hope) Whitaker; Great grandchildren: Kyle, Alex, Jonathon, Anthony, Vincent, Cayden, Serenity and new baby Vera Ann; and additional "grands": Austin, Patience, Carlos, Kaden, Alivia
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, LaVonne (William) Sedgwick.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Highland Crest Baptist Church, 1830 S. Military Ave, Green Bay, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Downs officiating.
