Gordon A. Heraly, Sr. passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 6, 1924, in Green Bay to August J. and Odile (Davister) Heraly. Gordon was very active in athletics at Green Bay East High, lettering in football and track and field (shotput). He served in the U.S. Army in the 555th Engineer Brigade during WWII. Gordon married the former Angeline “Angie” Jacobe October 18, 1947, at St. Peter and Paul Church where he attended grade school. Gordon worked with his brother Norman at their father’s business, Northland Bottling Company as a young man before becoming a policeman in 1947 for the City of Green Bay until his retirement in 1985. Gordon and Angie enjoyed retirement, trips to Bailey’s Harbor with the grandchildren, traveling to Brownsville, Texas and visiting Padre Islands and many rounds of golf at Royal Scot Golf Course. Gordon was most proud of his two boys following in his footsteps. Both Michael and Gordy, Jr. were policemen with the City of Green Bay. Gordon was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Kathy Heraly, Green Bay; grandchildren, Chad G. Heraly, Appleton and Renee (Blake) Main, Green Bay; great-grandchildren, London and August Main and a third great-grandchild to arrive this summer. Gordon is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elaine Jacobe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Angie Heraly; both sons, Michael G. Heraly (2014) and Gordy A. Heraly, Jr. (2001); brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Muriel Heraly; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Larry Beyer.
A private family service was held. Simply Cremation is serving the family.
