HERBERT ROBERT LAPOINTE, 78, passed away peacefully from complications of late onset McArdle’s Disease. Herb was born in Prineville, Oregon on July 24, 1946 son of Evelyn (Fezatte) and Henry A. LaPointe Sr. He grew up in Perronville, Michigan and graduated from Bark River-Harris High School in 1964. He graduated from Bay de Noc Community College with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967. He moved to Green Bay and resided in the Pulaski area for the last 18 years.
Herb had a love for old cars, fishing, and scuba diving. He built his first at 15, a vehicle he called “Conglomerate,” as he built the frame using a baler farm motor purchased from our neighbor’s farm, and Crosley car parts, he painted it green. It had to be cranked to start it. Herb used Conglomerate as his transportation to work at our neighbor’s mink farm. With his love for cars, he worked as an auto mechanic and auto body repairs before opening Herb’s Restoration and Upholstery Repair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn (Fezatte) and Henry A. LaPointe Sr., his brother and sister-in-law Henry V. LaPointe, Jr. (Sue)., his nephew Andrew Pluff.
He is survived by his siblings, Jan Hall (Mike Newcomb), Suamico; Jacqueline (Charles) Pluff, Rochester Hills, MI and Bill (Pat) LaPointe, Abrams. His children, Christine (Michael) Hawthorne, Robert LaPointe, and Dawn LaPointe; 7 grandchildren; Kenny Herlache, Alicia (David) Zelenskiy, Andrea Herlache (Jesse); Justin LaPointe; Keyandra Greer, Kaden Greer, Kobe Rockmore, and 4 great-grandchildren along with 7 nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Foster City Cemetery at a later date, with Military Honors.
Herb’s sister, Jan, would like to thank all the Hospice staff for their compassion, care, and visits. Herb greatly appreciated their support.
