The Lord brought home Irving Rose on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Catherine, in 2003.
Born in Newburgh, NY, one of nine children, Irving would become inspired by his own struggles with polio to work in the nursing field. This would evolve into a career in the Veterans Administration, caring for the nation’s veterans for over 25 years. He would transfer to Florida where in 1976 he’d be forced to retire due to a back injury. After his wife passed away in 2003, Irving joined his son and daughter-in-law by moving to Green Bay in 2007, staying with them until deteriorating health required full time nursing the last 5 months.
Irving is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Linda; three grandchildren, Leslie Oligney, Lloyd Sheffer, and Joseph, Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Rose of Newburgh, NY and many nieces and nephews.
