James Esperson

James Esperson of Washington Island, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the age of 89.

James loved his home and birthplace of Washington Island. He was an active member of his local church as well as the American Legion.  Although James was a Wisconsin Resident for most of his life, he was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  In his early years, James lived in Chicago and was past president of the NORGE ski club.  An electrician by trade, James enjoyed the outdoors and all that came with it including, gardening, boating, fishing, and especially golf.  This led him to follow in his father's footsteps with a permanent residency on Washington Island.  He was a beloved member at the Island's Bethel Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed a good social hour. If you saw James out running errands you probably saw one of his little dogs accompany him, he was an animal lover at heart.  

James was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Esperson and Matilda Corbet.  He is survived by his children, James Esperson, and Cindy Reilly; grandchildren, Leslie, Jamie, Gabriella and Nicole; and great granddaughters, Mia, Sofia, and Nicolette.  

There will be a celebration of life in spring.
