Janet Mary Hanaway fell asleep in Jesus on December 23, 2023. She was one of 10 children born to James A. and Catherine M. (LaFave) Hanaway (both preceded her in death).
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Shawna Hanaway and her granddaughter, Evaya Rose Hanaway, who was her pride and joy. Also survived by her siblings, Mary Peters (Richard), Kathleen Zirbel (Leslie), Susan Thiesfeldt (Keith), Teresa Willett (James), Carolyn Polak (Jeff), Jerry Hanaway (Sherri), Jane Mencheski (Daniel) and Timothy Hanaway (Tammi); as well as 16 nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Hanaway.
Janet’s love for children lead her to a 40 year career in child care management. During that time, she was employed by and managed Day Care Advantage and TLC Day Care. She enjoyed working with and teaching children. She was involved in the Brown County foster care system; always willing to take in children needing a family until health issues prevented her from doing so. She had a special place in her heart for Tacio, whom she loved and raised as her own.
The family would like to thank Edenbrook of Green Bay and Aurora Bay Care Hospice nurses. We will always remember her sense of humor and laughter.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in peace dear Sister; until we see you again in heaven, we will miss you.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the
Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1414 Shawano Avenue, Green Bay.
