Janet Olson, 75, slipped peacefully from this world on July 18, 2017 after a brave three year battle with lung cancer. She was born on February 9, 1942, one of three rambunctious girls, to Hugh and Helen (Zuelsdorf) Gunn.
Janet is survived by her husband, Glenn; her son, Ben, and her special furry friend, Tulip. Her twin sister, Janice (Gunn) Kommer and husband Bob Kommer; her little sister, Carol (Gunn) Tilkens; her nieces, Ellen (Tilkens) DeKeyser and husband Dan DeKeyser, and Trish Tilkens and her fiance, Bruce Prosser.
She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Darrell Tilkens, and beloved nephew, Marty Tilkens. Her long missed furry friends, King and Bucky, now stand lovingly at her side to watch over us all.
Janet would like to thank the wonderful Dr. Kevin Mortara, and all the amazing nurses and staff at the Bellin Cancer Center for fighting so hard for so long to protect her. The time you gave us was magical, and not one bit of it wasted.
Per Janet’s request, there will be no funeral service or showing, but if you love her, it would make her smile if you told a good joke today, ate a big meal, and said I love you to someone who needed it.
You can sleep now, Mom, the cancer is gone and will never come back. You are safe, and back in the arms of your Mother, in a forever light that will never dim. I love you.
