John Joseph (Jack) Verhagen Jr.
John (Jack) Verhagen Jr., age 84 passed away on Monday May 20th. He was born on June 3, 1939, in Suamico, WI to the late John Verhagen Sr. and Mae Brunette. On September 7, 1960, John married Alice White who proceeded him in death on September 17, 1965. John went on to marry Karan Mlnarik on June 10, 1966, and together they raised 7 kids. John joined the United States Marine Corps on December 27, 1958, and was honorably discharged on January 15, 1963. He worked at Nat’l Can Company for 30 years where he later retired to building homes with his sons for the next 12 years. After he “actually” retired, Karan and John moved to Crooked Lake.
John enjoyed wood working, feeding the wildlife in his backyard, playing daily Yahtzee games with his wife, hunting and fishing, setting puzzles, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He spent most of his Sunday’s cheering for the Green Bay Packers or watching Nascar races.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karan; his children, John III (Esther) Verhagen, Kevin (Lisa Parkos) Verhagen, Herby (Julie) Verhagen, Jeffrey Lemens, Julie Lemens, James (Tammy) Lemens, and Melissa (Donald) Lison; grandchildren, Anna (Dominic) Mulzer, John IV (Brianna) Verhagen, Samuel and Andrew Lemens, Tyler Verhagen, Mike (Megan) Lemens, and Crystal (Jeff) Valley; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Cody, Braxton, Alex, Maverick, John V, and Ella; siblings, Betty (Jim) Dura.
He was proceeded in death by his brother Micky Verhagen.
John’s family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the Bellin Health ICU Team who cared for John and provided exceptional care during his final days. They would also like to thank the staff at Tender Hearts Assisted Living where John resided with his wife for the care and hospitality they provided.
