Joseph Van Ooyen

Joseph A. Van Ooyen 72, Appleton, made his final lap on 9-11-2020 at his home with his family by his side. The son of the late Charles and Marie Van Ooyen. Joe was born July 30,1948 in Antigo WI. “Smokin Joe” had a love for auto racing and hot rods. Joe has always been in the auto body business he was known for his unique chopped vehicles, flames and artistic side.

Survivors include: His fiancé Amy Van Eyck (Amos), Children: Robin Mand & Special Friend Ken Bernetzke, Candi (Bill) Diedrick, JJ Van Ooyen, Angela (Barry) Streck, Jessica (Chad) Purdy, Brandon Van Ooyen
Brothers: Charlie (Pat) Van Ooyen, Donald (Sharon) Van Ooyen 20 Grandchildren 7 Great Grandchildren. The Van Eyck family and “special wife” Becky many special nieces and nephews that he thought of as his own children. A special Aunt Pete Paff. Many, many special close friends and his special dog Axle.

Reunited with: Brother Victor (Smokey) Van Ooyen and Dawn Van Ooyen, Kathy Van Eyck.

A special thanks to ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care and his favorite nurse Jessica “ Remember to have your water chaser”.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at his shop at a later date.
