April 2, 1934 — December 1, 2021

JOYCE ANN HALSTEAD, age 87, of Jacksonport, WI peacefully passed away at Pine Crest Village on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 with family by her side.

Joyce was born on April 2, 1934 in Sturgeon Bay to Bruno and Augusta (Roell) Birnschein. Joyce graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to F. Warren Halstead on April 19, 1952 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valmy and enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage prior to Warren’s death in 2016.

Joyce was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay. She was a member of the Lakeside Ladies Homemakers, past president of the Retired Persons Activity Club, past president and past treasurer of Door Association of Home and Community Education, past member of the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and life member of the National, State and Sevastopol Future Farmers of America. Joyce was a member of the Door County Republican Party and a poll-worker for the Town of Jacksonport for more than 45 years. She loved sewing and making most of Kerry and Cindy’s dresses and Randy’s cowboy shirts when they were young. She also loved to knit and made afghans for each of her grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s school and sporting events, including Brock’s college football games. She enjoyed watching the Brewers, especially Prince Fielder, and going to Daniel O’Donnell concerts. Warren and Joyce hosted 11 Work Experience Abroad students and traveled to Europe to visit several of them and continued to stay in touch with them.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her three children Randy Halstead of Jacksonport, Kerry (Rick) Neuville of Sturgeon Bay, Cindy (Don) Viste of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren Lacey (Nathan) Tomczuk of Bayside, Brock (Teresa) Halstead of Albia, IA, Shanna (Mike) Sobieck of Oneida, Callie (Mark) Frey of Dodgeville, Nicole (Ryan) Komers of Hales Corners and Natasha (Adam) Baker of Waunakee; step-grandchildren Stephanie (Rachel) Selvick of Lake Mills and Carl (Samantha) Selvick of Cambridge; great-grandchildren Isaac, Jacob, Anna, Luke, Genevieve, Cecelia, Addison, Avery, Alexander, Noah, Claire, Cole, Jack, Elinor, Ry, Violet, Donovan, Luciana and Brooks who all knew her as “Grandma Great”, and step-great-grandchildren Oliver and Everett. Mom’s visits and facetime visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense joy to her. She was greatly loved and will be truly missed by all.
