Kenneth N. Sauer, 84, De Pere, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice in De Pere. He was born October 24, 1933, in Chicago, IL, and served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years of proud service. Ken served during the Vietnam and Korean wars, receiving a Bronze Star for his wartime service. He was stationed on 5 ships throughout his time in the Navy.
Ken was an electrician for the US Navy most of his life, and following was tour bus driver out east, and later moved to California and became a taxi-driver for senior citizens.
He married Valery Wennesheimer on February 28, 1959, and were together 20 years; remaining friends following their marriage. She passed away on March 19, 2016.
Ken enjoyed golfing, watching the Brewers and Packers, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by four children: Steve (Darcy) Sauer, Arizona; Ken Sauer, Kara (Todd) Sederstrom, and Kim Vanlanen, all of Green Bay; 4 grandchildren: Angel Buck, Kiley Vanlanen, Hunter Hulbert, and Leah Vanlanen; and a niece, Marty Meshberg.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and sister, Evelyne.
Family and friends may gather at Ft. Howard Memorial Park, 1350 N. Military Ave., Green Bay, on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of full military honors at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at
