Kenneth “Ken” Howard Weinhauer passed away on Christmas Eve, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was born March 14, 1944 in Rockaway Beach, Long Island, New York to the late Howard and Anne (Lomagistro) Weinhauer. Ken graduated from W. T. Clarke High School in Westbury Long Island, New York and from New York State Maritime College, serving in the Merchant Marine. He was proud to have worked for Wisconsin Public Service at the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant, from a Start-up Engineer all the way through to Plant Manager and ultimately Site General Manager, retiring in 2001.
Ken is survived by his wife, Carol (Carter); son Michael, San Mateo, CA; daughter, Kristin (Christopher Frey) Bangkok, Thailand; step-children Tawni Gustavson, Leah Weycker, Byron Weycker, and Brent (Joanne) Weycker; one sister, Judith (Gary) Clarke; and grandchildren, Carl, Anne, Gail, Jackie, Mitchell, Eric and Nicholas; nephews, Chip and Christian; and niece, Anne.
Ken was a talented musician and singer who performed with several bands throughout his life and shared his love for music with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed traveling, dining out, relaxing in his pool with his signature scotch & olives, and collecting cars. He was an active member of Corvettes of the Bay, having owned several Vettes, including his original “Silver” ’74 and prized “Blue Jewel” ’61, the latter of which won several awards and was featured on the TV program, “Wheels.” He was also involved in the local Italian-American Club.
He was an active Mason, serving as Master of Washington Lodge, Scottish Right, and Beja Shrine, participating on the circus committee and as Beja’s representative on the Board of Governors for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He also regularly transported area children to the Chicago hospital. Ken was an Eagle Scout and a life-long blood donor.
Ken was proud to be one of the founding owners of Titletown Brewing Company. He fulfilled his wish to drink the first “Johnny Blood” ale in the new Tap Room with his whole family.
Even though he spent his first 21 years on Long Island, Ken soon became a loyal Packers fan and, in the true Green Bay spirit, attended games in all kinds of weather. He would enjoy the fact that his Celebration of Life service was planned to accommodate the Packers’ playoff schedule.
He was a kind-hearted, strong and generous man who enriched the lives of all those around him with his wisdom, love and sense of humor. Our “rock” will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Titletown Brewing Company’s Tap Room on Saturday, January 10th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a Masonic service at 10:30 a.m. Simply Cremation assisted the family with arrangements, (920) 431-0100.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established with proceeds benefiting the local Beja Shrine, St. Vincent Hospital, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (
