Kitty Herbst

October 16, 1924 — January 11, 2017

Kitty A. Herbst, 92, Green Bay, passed away peacefully, to be with Curt, Wednesday afternoon January 11 with her loving son Michael by her side. Kitty was the daughter of Reinhart and Ella Bathke, born on October 16, 1924, in Kewaunee, WI. She graduated from Kewaunee High School and a Milwaukee Beauty School. Kitty met Curt in Milwaukee and after his honorable discharge from the Navy and the end of WWII and they were married in Algoma, WI, on June 7, 1947. Kitty worked as a beautician for many years before taking a job at H.C. Prange Co. in downtown Green Bay in their credit department until they both retired in 1982. Kitty came out of retirement to play cards! Both bridge and Sheepshead. Sharp as a tack she was, and made many dear friends over the years. She explained to me what “booby prize” meant finally! For my entire childhood I thought it was a naughty word! They would meet at Red Lobster and Bay Family restaurants where they would have lunch first and then get down to business! Thanks to the staff at both, especially Big Al and James at the Red Lobster for treating Mom like she was their own. A place Kitty and Curt ate shrimp for 37 years!

Kitty is survived by her sons Michael and David; daughter, Nancy (Michael (Kluesner); granddaughter, Maggie; great grandson, Zane and of course Mike’s “golden girl” Lucy who gives the best kisses ever! Woof. We will all miss her dearly every single day.

There will be two services to celebrate Kitty’s life, the first will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave, Wednesday, January 25, visitation at 9:45 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with a lunch to follow. The second service will be to lay her to rest next to her loving husband, Curt in Blossomberg Cemetery inside Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, WI where her son Michael lives. She will be laid to rest the same day our father was June 7 which would have been their 70th anniversary. God bless them. For more information and condolences please contact Michael Herbst P.O. Box 81 Fish Creek WI 54212.

Thanks to all the caregivers, St Mary’s Hospital, Simply Cremation (Matt and Michelle), and especially Marcy Godlewski. God bless you all. Flowers would be great as Kitty loved flowers…
