Lee Verhulst

September 25, 1943 — August 3, 2024

Lee W. Verhulst, 80, of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024. He was born in Sheboygan Wisconsin, on September 25, 1943 to parents Don and Sylvia Verhulst. He attended South High School in Sheboygan WI, earned a bachelor's of Science in Geography from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Master's degree in Education from Colorado State Teachers College. After college he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. For his heroic service, was awarded the Bronze Star.

Lee was a wonderful man, who was blessed with his family's wealth. He believed in giving back to his community, donating to the University of Wisconsin, the YMCA of Sheboygan, the Veterans Association of America, Disabled Veterans, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and many others. Not to mention, to friends who just needed help. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels in Sheboygan, WI for 25 years. Lee was a big supporter of the YMCA pool which was donated by his parents. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Club in Sheboygan, WI. Lee worked for his father's business, National Box and Specialty which later became Georgia Pacific, for 20 years as the general manager at the Oshkosh division, and retired at the age of 42.

Lee is survived by the love of his life and partner of 30 years, Florence Petrauski; his daughter, Lisa Verhulst Lowe and his brother Jerry Verhulst. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Andy Verhust and his parents Don and Sylvia Verhulst.

The family would like to thank Aurora Bay Care Hospital of Green Bay, Aurora Hospice Care of Green Bay and the Veterans for Veterans Program for helping to make the end of his life comfortable.

Lee was loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed every day.
