LeRoy Bleick, 90, Green Bay, passed away at home with family at his side, Friday, Nov. 9, 2018. Born in Appleton on Dec. 25, 1927, as a Christmas gift to his parents, Monroe and Dora (Klitzke) Bleick. LeRoy started working on freighters in the Great Lakes as a teenager and joined the Army as soon as he was old enough to do so and was stationed in the Philippines and later in England. After his military service, LeRoy was employed with Alwin Manufacturing from 1954 until his retirement in 1993. He married the former Eleanore Tappe in March of 1959. LeRoy enjoyed fishing, traveling to the National Parks and camping, woodworking, and reading, especially books on history. LeRoy will be fondly remembered as the most kind and gentle man who ever walked the face of the earth.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanore; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Barbara Bleick; three grandchildren, Steve (Caroline) Laatsch, Ronald (Susan) Laatsch and Karen (John) Wiater; five great-grandchildren, Cory, Holly, Emily, Kaylyn and Jacob; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Bleick; and several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elaine (Melvin) Gutche; his stepmother, Leona Laabs; and numerous canine companions.
Visitation at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S Madison St, Green Bay, Thurs. Nov. 15, 2018, from 1pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:30 pm with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating.
