Lynne Sears Williams passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 12th, 2018. She is survived by her loving children, Luke, Abby and Alyson; granddaughters Evangeline and Mila; her two son-in-laws Bradley and Philip; brother Wade and sister Wendy, former spouse James, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Lynne was born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1956. She attended Cornell College in Iowa, and later earned her law degree from the University of Calgary. She worked as a journalist for many years, notably at the Canadian Medical Association Journal, and the St. Albert Gazette. She wrote a historical fiction novel, The Comrades, published in 2011.
Lynne loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughters; playing cards with friends; reading, writing, and Star Trek. She had a wicked sense of humor and a clever tongue, and an appreciation for the finer things in life.
She was preceded in death by her mother Jean and father Bob, and aunts Helen and Mary. She will be cremated and her remains will be set to rest along with her parents at their grave site in Calgary next summer.
Visitation and mass for Lynne will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard, WI, this Saturday, September 15th. Visitation begins at 9, and mass will be said at 10. A reception will be held from 11:30 until 1:30, at New Perspectives Senior Living, where Lynne lived happily for the last two years of her life, at 2790 Elm Tree Hill Hill in Howard. Lynne wanted a party, so please join us then for cocktails and appetizers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
We love and miss you, Mum. Courage and shuffle the cards.
