Marion Halstead

September 26, 1954 — March 8, 2015

Marion L. Halstead, better known as "Marion the Barbarian," passed away on March 8, 2015, at the age of 60, after a brief fight with cancer.

Marion was an award-winning barber, and opened her hair salon, Cutter’s Cove located in the Cherry Point Mall, in 1980. To say she was hilariously inappropriate is an understatement. Marion’s stories are remembered by the old timers at Cutter’s Cove who have been there since the beginning: Carol, Penny, Patty, and Tracie.

Marion shared her humor with husband Randy Halstead, who she married in New Orleans on Veteran’s Day in 1995. Marion and Randy have parented seven dogs—two of which have survived Marion, including Truman, her most beloved black Standard Poodle, and Milo. She has now joined her five other boxers: Fritz, Miss Sofia, Casper, Bruno, and Lucy.

Marion’s pride was anchored in her children and grandchildren, including her daughter Stephanie and her partner Rachael, her son Carl and his wife Samantha, as well as her step-children Lacey and her husband Nathan, and Brock and his wife Teresa. Marion boasts nine beautiful grandchildren who know her best as “granny,” including Isaac, Jacob, Anna, Luke, Genevieve, Cecelia, Addison, Avery, and Alexander.

Marion was loved by four parents and survived by three. Marie, Joyce, and Warren will continue to hold down the fort, and Lawrence is hanging out with her in heaven, along with Marion’s sister Gail. The siblings that survive her are Mark, Pat, Mike, Theresa, and Carol.

A celebration of Marion’s love for life will take place on July 18th, 2015.
