Marion E. Robinson Jr. (JR) (Robbie), 80, Green Bay/De Pere went to be with his creator on December 31, 2024. He passed peacefully wrapped in the arms of his loving wife Joan.
Marion was born at home in Red Springs, Wisconsin on April 18, 1944, to the late Nina (Sears) and Marion Robinson Sr.
Marion served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. Marion is a proud member of the Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. He also belongs to the Mohican Warrior Veterans. He is also a member of the Oneida VFW Warriors Post 7784.
During his time in the Army he did three tours in Vietnam. He also traveled all over the world. He enjoyed his time in Germany the most.
Once home he tried several different jobs, he ended up becoming a correctional officer. He started his career working in Waupun. During his time there, there was a riot and he and some other officers were taken hostage. Thank goodness no one was injured badly. Eventually, he settled on coming back to Green Bay and continued his career at the Wisconsin State Reformatory, which is now the Green Bay Correctional Institution.
In his spare time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He belonged to the Wolf River HOG chapter out of Doc's Harley Davidson for many years. He also enjoyed meeting new people. He could start a conversation with anyone age 1 to 100. He had the "Gift of Gab".
Marion also enjoyed bird watching. His imitation of one mourning dove following another dove was spot on and hilarious.
He also loved all of his feral kitty babies. We did trap/neuter/release of 26 kitties. Most of the kitties stayed around for the good food and warm and dry shelter from the winter cold and rain. Marions patience and love, led to being able to pet many of the feral babies and give tummy rubs to a few. It's amazing that some of the babies we don't see for the summer show up for over the winter and some even show up after being gone several years to visit daddy.
Another part of his life that he enjoyed was being part owner of Capone's Bar and later Bourbon Street. His love of meeting new people and good food made it a perfect place for him to be. He had a billion stories to tell. I hear the burgers are still some of the best in Green Bay and I will miss his Friday deep fried haddock. It was excellent. During this time he enjoyed being "dad" to stepson Jed. Together they had many adventures.
Marion will be sadly missed and forever loved by his wife Joan, sisters Joann Staats, Sturgeon Bay, Randean [Virgil (Jake)] Kussow, De Pere, and Beverly Robinson, Green Bay. Special stepson Jed Bossell, Green Bay, son Robert Robinson, Florida. He is further survived by Joan's family brother-in-law James (Ida Julie) Hoes, Florida, sister-in-laws Jean Nussbaum, Little Suamico, Jane Molzahn, Green Bay. Stepsons Scott and Jason Doxtator, Green Bay, Step-grandkids Jonathon (Raven) Doxtator and Nicole Jorgenson Sturgeon Bay. Special "daughter" Rachel (Matt) Kolocheski, Seymour. Gavin Doxtator, the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the United States Navy fleet protecting our freedom, twins Seth and Walker Doxtator, Seymour. Also 3 step-great-grandkids, many cousins, nieces, nephews and a million friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Travis (Lucille) Robinson and Irwin Robinson, parent-in-laws Andy and Mickie Hoes, and brother-in-laws, Earl Staats, Vern Nussbaum, Michael Molzahn.
A special thank you to our emergency-helper and Amazon-Angel Sheila Molzahn.
A special thank you to Unity Hospice De Pere, especially nurse Julie, social worker Holly, and Chaplain Scott. Your compassion and care helped make this difficult journey a bit easier.
Per Marion's wishes, there will be no funeral.
