Mary Frances Fritsch

January 16, 1949 — March 12, 2017

Mary Frances Theodora Fritsch, 68, passed away on March 12, 2017, into the loving arms of Jesus Christ after battling colon cancer. She was born January 16, 1949, in Green Bay, WI, to Ted and H. Patricia (Campion) Fritsch. Raised through the parochial school system, Mary graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. After a brief period as a flight attendant, she attended Outagamie County Teacher’s College for 2 years and finished her teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Mary continued on with her education and became certified for K-12 Gifted and Talented.

Teaching was Mary’s passion. She loved her students, whom she called her “kids”. They benefited from her kind and eloquent style, with a touch of quirkiness, as much as she benefited from them. After a long teaching career in the Brown County, Wisconsin and Cobb County, Georgia school systems, she retired in 2011.

Mary loved her life, her family, her friends, and her cats. She enjoyed sending out that “special” greeting card that she had for any and all occasions. Reading, knitting, puzzle books, antiquing, lunching with friends, and having a view of the water enriched her days. She proudly wore the “green and gold” in honor of her Packer heritage.

Mary is survived by her brother, Ted and his wife Roberta, Marietta, GA; her brother, Tom, Green Bay, WI; her sister, Tary Bowker, Green Bay, WI; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both sets of grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and numerous felines.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, in the chapel of Allouez Chapel Mausoleum, 2121 Riverside Dr. Green Bay, WI, 54301. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am with a memorial service from 11am to 12pm.

Please visit www.simplycremationgb.com to express online condolences. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Mary’s name.

Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Dr. Peter Falk, Bellin Hospital, The Bellin Cancer Team, and Unity Hospice for their extraordinary and compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to family and friends for their support through visits, calls, cards, and texts.
