It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving sister, Mary Jean Mehlin. Mary passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024 at the age of 78 due to congestive heart failure. Mary was born on June 27, 1946 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Albert and Ann Mehlin of Algoma, Wisconsin.
Mary grew up in Algoma and attended Algoma High School. After graduation, she went on to Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree. Her nursing career took her to both Milwaukee and Green Bay. In 1983 she earned an Associate’s Degree in Data Processing and worked to implement a medical records system with Prevea which is now known as Epic. In 1998, Mary earned her Master’s Degree and worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Medicine. She had a warm spirit and a wonderful sense of humor which endeared her to everyone she met. She had a passion for dogs and trained them in both obedience and fieldwork and was a past member of Packerland Kennel Club and Manitowoc County Kennel Club.
She is survived by her brother John Mehlin and sister Becky (Mehlin) Noel. She leaves behind nieces and nephews, Lori (Clint) McWhorter and their children Ashton and Noah; Jeff (Jana) Mehlin and their children Lindsey, Nick, and Jackson; Matthew Noel; Michael (Chloe) Noel and their children Mason and Charlotte; Ashley Noel; caring cousins and her sweet golden retriever, Vinny.
Mary’s life will be honored in a private family service and a public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Bellin Hospital Cardiac Unit and Unity Hospice for the care and compassion given to Mary and the family.
Everyone who remembers Mary is asked to raise a glass of Diet Coke in her memory. The family also asks that in her honor you write your congressman and ask for repeal of daylight savings time, which Mary did not care for.
