Marylou Kopatz

Marylou (Behringer) Kopatz, 81, Suring, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home, February 26, 2016. Born on November 7, 1934, she is the daughter of the late Hans Jorgen and Mildred (Hougaard) Christensen. Marylou attended Oconto Falls High School. She was raised in the Kelly Brook area where she met and married Roger Behringer. Together they farmed and raised their family.

Marylou was a professional cook and caterer. She was a 4-H member as a child and later became a 4-H leader. As a near life time member of the Hickory Church of Christ, Marylou served the Lord in many capacities. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, and instrumental in organizing and participating in the community outreach group of Helping Hands; Young Adult Fellowship Group; and provided many fresh flowers for the alter as she loved working in her flower gardens.

On June 16, 1988 Marylou married Fred Kopatz, they resided in the Town of Bagley until her death.

She is survived by her husband Fred Kopatz, her five children; Roger Lee (Carmen) Behringer, Oconto Falls, WI; Darlene Wolf, Green Bay, WI; Rosemary (Marlin) Warden, Suring WI; Bryan (Annette) Behringer, Kelly Brook, WI; Beverly Behringer, Gillett, WI. Step-children, Craig (Veronica) Kopatz, Oconto Falls, WI; Christine Peterman, Cary,NC. 14 Grandchildren, 6 Step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Her sisters Corrine (Ted) Blazek Rosco and Colleen (Ed) Gregorich. Sister-in-law Charlotte Christensen; step brother Bill Kamke; step sisters Mavis Blazek and Winona Dobratz.

Marylou was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roger; her son Daniel Behringer; sister Beverly Wacek Schwenn; brother Harlan Christensen; son-in-law, Bradley Wolf; sister-in-law Carol Panetti.

A memorial service will take place on April 23 at Hickory Church of Christ, Suring. Details will be published at a later date.
