Michael Patrick Lancelle, 62, passed from this earth on September 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by family in his hometown of Green Bay, Wis., following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 18, 1954, in Dayton, OH, he is the son of the late Darrell and MayBelle (Knox) Lancelle. Mike was a graduate of Green Bay West High School Class of 1973. He worked as a warehouse man for 27 years, often taking on second and third jobs to give his family a good life. He never desired for his job to define him. Mike’s work on this earth was that of a family man; a man who always put the needs of others before his own. He married his best friend, Annette Kirchner, in May of 1986, and together they formed strong marital and family bonds. Mike and Annette celebrated 30 years of marriage this past May. Mike never missed his children’s extracurricular activities; volunteering as a coach, mentor and support system. He was a blue collar man that instilled those same values in his children, and he helped raise them to be independent and successful. Mike was ever so proud of his grandchildren and until the end, relished engaging with them in their day-to-day. Never one to chase material wealth, Mike found it in inspiring his loved ones to see the glass as half full – no matter the scenario. Mike always had a way of making everyone around him laugh; even total strangers. This is what most will remember the most vividly, his sense of humor and bad jokes. Mike will be fondly remembered as an avid outdoors man, diehard Wisconsin sports fan, and his children’s and grandchildren’s coach, mentor and as a strong support system.
Mike will live on in the memory of his wife of 30 years, Annette Lancelle; three children, Jeremy Schmidt, Melanie Imhoff, and Benjamin Lancelle; five siblings: Kathleen Lancelle, Darrell (Janine) Lancelle Jr., Jeffery Lancelle, Saima Lancelle and Deborah Gibbons; four beloved grandchildren, Austin Imhoff, Olivia Imhoff, Eli Imhoff, and Deacon Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by his father-in-law, Wayne Kirchner as well as Annette’s brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lancelle; mother-in-law, Lois Kirchner; and sister-in-law, Jeri Lancelle.
A private memorial service for family and close friends to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 12:00 p.m.
