Michael (Mike) Eugene Holbrook, Sr., age 75, passed from this life on 8/22/2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born on August 7, 1943 in the Village of White Lake to father, Reece Holbrook and mother Vera Holbrook. Mike grew up in a large, loving family with six sisters and two brothers. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army, these experiences shaped his strength of character and developed a strong pride for his country. Mike was blessed with four children: Michele (John) Boltz; Michael (Christina) Holbrook, Jr.; Mathew (Brooke) Holbrook and Miles (Lynette) Amorelli. He lived in the Langlade County area for the most of his life. Mike dedicated most of his work life to truck driving and entrepreneurship developments. Mike worked hard, but played harder. He found great solace in the outdoors, whether he was cutting wood, picking wild mushrooms, fishing, taking walks, picking cans or riding his “hot rod.” Mike’s charism and humor would light up any room and bring a smile and sometimes a “belly laugh” to new friends and old. Beneath the spunk and sass, Mike had a heart of gold and was known to give the shirt off his back for anyone. He remained a loyal, brave and light hearted even throughout his final months.
Mike is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as his sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Mielke, Sharon (Norman) Pratt, Barbara (Jack) Ricard, and Victoria DeVries. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley (Jim) Florios and his brother Reese Larry (Mary) Holbrook and infant siblings Bonnie and Billy Holbrook.
