Michael Thomas

Michael L. Thomas, age 81, passed away on February 3, 2025, at Bellin Hospital Green Bay with family by his side. Mike was born in Wausau, WI, on August 18, 1943, to the late Hildegard and Leo Thomas. He married Eldona Melvin at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wausau on October 22, 1966, sharing 58 1/2 happy years together.

He served in the Air Force as a military policeman and was stationed and served in Vietnam and Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1966. After discharge from the Air Force he worked as a police officer for the City of Marinette retiring as a Lieutenant in 1995. He proudly served the Marinette community for 28 1/2 years.

Mike and Eldona enjoyed traveling and hitting the casinos. In their travels they visited each of the continental United States. He was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He also loved camping, fishing, and hunting especially deer hunting and bird hunting. 

Mike is survived by his wife Eldona; daughters, Michelle (Scott) Benson and Kim (Jeff) Larsen; grandchildren Dylan Larsen and Kaylee Larsen; brother, Robert (Karin) Thomas; brother in law, Rodger Josiger; special cousin Judy Sorlie; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by parents Hildegard and Leo Thomas; mother and father in law, Eldon and Lenore Melvin; sister and brother in law, Hildegarde and August Witter; sister, Ruth Josinger; brother and sister in law, Butch and Carolin Thomas; brother and sister in law Leon and Joyce Thomas; brother, Patrick Thomas; half sister and brother in law, Evelyn and George Chamberlain; half sister Patricia Schmidt; half brother and sister in law Wilfred and Charlotte Thomas; cousin, Fred Sorlie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cusack's Irish Pub in Marinette at a later date along with a graveside military service at a later date.
