Michele Marie Minix

Michele Marie Minix was born on April 30th, 1954 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was 1 of 8 children to Norman and Jane Carpenter. Having dreams of traveling the world from a young age, Shelly began studying foreign languages. Once finished with high school, Shelly and her best friend Korn, traveled throughout Europe together. That journey opened Michele’s very creative imagination and it inspired her to move to Spain and teach English for 2 years. Back in the U.S., Shelly was wandering around the country and eventually moved up to Nome, Alaska. She got married and gave birth to her 2 beautiful boys, Jason and Eli, whom she loved dearly. As a new mother, Shelly worked full time and attended UWGB with a major in Spanish. Graduating with high honors, she then served as the Foreign Language Coordinator for Humana Insurance for 25 years and gained a wealth of knowledge and utilized her travel experience and skillset to navigate her career. While traveling was her #1 passion in life; gardening, rummage sale shopping and jewelry making were some of her other hobbies. Her sweet fur-babies, Lola & Cookie, kept her youthful and gave her a lot of comfort throughout her journey. With grace and dignity, Shelly waited to rest until her grandson, Jaydon, had his first birthday. Becoming a grandmother was her greatest role in life as she loved her “Precioso Nieto”. While Shelly didn’t want a funeral or memorial service, there will be a “Celebration of Life” party in her honor this summer. Michele was an extraordinary person and the most remarkable and admirable woman. She was a loving and committed Mother and she was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts.
