Norma T. Kiessel, 85, Sturgeon Bay, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at a Green Bay hospital surrounded by her children. Norma was born in Saginaw, MI on Dec. 6, 1930. She worked as a librarian and secretary after graduating from Holy Family High School in Saginaw. On June 12, 1954, Norma married Alfred J Kiessel in Allen Park, MI. After completing medical school, Norma and Al lived briefly in Akron, OH before settling in Decatur, IL. Norma Attended Millikin University in Decatur studying Fine Arts. She enjoyed painting and was active in St. Mary’s Hospital auxiliary. She worked as a legislative assistant to Representative Mike Tate. She and Alfred traveled extensively and after Alfred’s retirement, the couple moved to Fort Meyers, FL where she lived until 2006. In 2009, Norma moved to Sturgeon Bay to be closer with her son, Al, and his wife. Norma moved to Big Hill Regency apartments and had a wonderful group of friends.
Norma is survived by her children, Karin (Ben) Joseph, Elizabeth Tolbert, Catherine Kiessel, Alfred (Lisa) Kiessel, Jr., Sara (Tim) Hamilton, and Michael (Adrienne) Kiessel. Norma leaves 12 beloved grandchildren: Lisa Thomas, Colin Tolbert, Derek Clark, Graham Tolbert, Daley Clark, Cholie Meyer, Rachel Hamilton, Elliot Hamilton, twins Niles and Leslie Hamilton, Bella Kiessel and Izzy Kiessel and her three great-grandchildren: Angela Mendez-Thomas, Rory Hamilton and John Carlos Nunez-Thomas.
A private family memorial was held. Simply Cremation, Green Bay, is serving the family.
Norma required medical assistance in Door County and was especially appreciative to the nurses and technicians at Aurora and Davita Dialysis clinics. A special thanks to Dr. Brar, Dr. Agashdeep and Dr. Bhatia for their excellent care of Norma.
