Owen C. Smith

Owen C. Smith, 89, formerly of Richland Center, WI, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Sturgeon Bay. Born on April 16, 1928, he is the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Kindschy) Smith. Owen is a graduate of Cochrane High School in Cochrane, WI. On August 5, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Isla Mueller in Winona, MN. Beginning in 1960, Owen became the proud owner of Richland Hardwoods Sawmill in Richland Center. For 28 years, he ran his business with integrity and was known to stand by his word. Owen enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin and owned land in both Holcombe and Hayward. He also loved family gatherings with his nieces and nephews, his hunting trips out west, and took a special interest in studying alternative healing modalities. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Smith of Fish Creek; three sisters, Virginia Brooks of Athens, AL, Jean Hoesley of Trempealeau, and Rachel (James) Graham of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
