Patricia Borremans

July 4, 1948 — June 4, 2016

Patricia (Patty) L. Borremans nee Gilson (Hietpas), Appleton, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4th at home surrounded by family and close friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Patricia wrote the following.

If you are reading this it means my work on earth is done. It was time for me to go home. I was born July 4, 1948 and very proud of it. I loved the fireworks, parades and roller coasters. My dogs and cats were a big part of my life.

I had a very good life, did many things; office manager, pet store owner and massage therapist. That was a turning point in my life, I knew I was meant to be a caregiver. I had several foster children and adults that I cared for. They will always have a special place in my heart.
My biggest accomplishment was being a mother to my beautiful daughters, Leah and Joelle. I was so proud of them both. I was blessed to see them both as adults and loved them with all of my heart. They gave me wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. My nephew, Dominic DiMatteo, was the son I never had.

Patricia is survived by two daughters: Leah (Jeff) Fogle and Joelle (Greg) Hoelzel; 6 grandchildren: Michael (Rachel) Bresler, Zachary Bresler, Nicholas Bresler, Lydia Novak, Grace Reynders and Lucus Novak; 2 greatchildren: Gwendolyn & Jacob Bresler; sister: Cyndi DiMatteo (Jim Biersteker), brother: Ansel (Elizabeth) Gilson, sister: Amy (Rob) Biersteker, Aunts: Cleo McClure, Mary Coppes, Louis Hoelzel and Ruth Federman, cousins: Mark Hoegh and Tim Mclure. Special friend Alice Maki and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parent Ansel and Kathleen (Coppes) Gilson; as well as a brother: Scott Gilson.

Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Patricia’s Life on Saturday June 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Appleton Beer Factory, 603 W. College Ave., Appleton.
