Patty Bury Olson, 54, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away December 13, 2022.
Patty was born in Bellevue, Nebraska, to Richard and Nancy Bury (nee Byrne). She grew up in Papillion, Nebraska, surrounded by friends and spent her childhood swimming, riding bikes, sledding, ice skating and playing with all of the neighborhood kids. Patty was always up for fun - playing in the park, making up games and participating in late night block hide and seek. She attended Trumble Park Elementary, Papillion Junior High and Papillion La Vista High School. She graduated high school in 1987 and attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion where she received a degree in broadcasting. She worked at WNAX for several years before moving to Green Bay as a reporter for Wisconsin Public Radio.
Patty married the love of her life, Steve Olson. The wedding was held in Las Vegas and was officiated by Elvis. Patty and Steve loved everything vintage and enjoyed attending estate sales to acquire antiques and items that took them back to simpler times. Patty often shared many of her treasures with friends and family. Patty also loved her fur baby cats which included, Clear, Barnabas, Minnie, Ashes and Odin.
Patty is survived by her husband Steve; her mother, Nancy Bury; older brother Jim (Thu) Bury; older sister Susan (Dean) Jindra; sister-in-law Vicki (Steve) Jastram; sister-in-law Kathi (Shane) Mitchell; father-in-law George (Margo) Olson; cousins from the Byrne and Kretz families; many nieces and nephews; and friends Nichole and Alan Subola, Molly and Rob Robinson, and Chad Linden (Craig Coleman).
Patty is preceded in death by her father Richard Bury; grandparents Frances and A.W. Bury and Leo and Sarah (Sally) Byrne; uncle Thomas Byrne; aunt Meb Kretz; and cousin Joseph Byrne.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
