Peggy Towers passed away July 18, 2018 at Woodside Lutheran Home, three weeks shy of her 90th birthday. Peggy was born Margaret Alison Wood on August 9, 1928 in Manchester, England to the late Albert and Elizabeth Wood. Peggy grew up in Manchester and met her future husband, Alfred W. Haberman, while he was stationed in England during WWII. She came to the United States in 1947 and they were married in New York.
Peggy and Al moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she lived most of her life and raised her five children. Later in her life she married Ray Towers. In 2004 she moved to Green Bay to be near her youngest grandchildren. Peggy taught her children to love afternoon tea and bag pipe music. Peggy was a lifelong lover of dogs and enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. Her laugh was contagious and enjoyed by many.
Peggy is survived by her children, Rennie (Robert) Rehm, Milford, WI, Patricia Whitaker, Albuquerque, NM, Linda (Russell Lynn) Haberman, Eastville, VA, and Alison (Jim) Heim, Green Bay, WI. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and her great friends, Carol Hogarty and Merna Brostoff.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Haberman; her son, Alfred E. Haberman and her granddaughter, Patreicea Whitaker.
A celebration of life will be held at Woodside Lutheran Home Chapel, 1040 Pilgrim Way, Green Bay, WI 54304 on Monday, July 23 at 10:00 am. Simply Cremation, 920-431-0100, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at
